Make your dream come true and enjoy the rehearsal of the New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic which will take place on December 30th at 11 a.m. The general rehearsal was opened to the Austrian public in 1962, being an exclusive concert for members of the Austrian army. Still today, it can be seen some attendants dressed in their uniforms. It was not until 1992 when it was opened to the general public. As this could not be any other way, the most acclaimed concert of the world takes place in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein, one of the concert halls best valued for its history, beauty and acoustics. The concert has more than 80 years history and still maintains the essence of its origins. The program is distinguished by assembling the best waltzes and polkas of Strauss’ Family, especially Johann Strauss father and son. A few exceptions in the past also included masterworks of Mozart, Vivaldi or Wagner. Whichever the program may be, Maestro Andris Nelsons, who will conduct the concerts, will surprise again. For sure he will not forget to include the memorable and most expected masterworks like “The Blue Danube” of Johann Strauss Junior and the endless “Radeztky March” which we will accompany with clapping. This tradition dates from 1959.
Another tradition that accompanies the concert since the first occasion is the dress code of the lucky attendees. Therefore, an elegant concert dress is highly recommended.
